Allison, her husband and two sons moved to Highland Park in Summer 2018.Allison's older son is in 6th grade at HPMS, and her younger son will begin Bartle in 2022.
Allison has been an educator with the New York City Department of Education for 17 years and is licensed in Special Education and Health Education. She has has completed a professional certificate in Social Emotional Learning and Leadership through the Academy for SEL in Schools.
Throughout her career, Allison has taken on several leadership roles within her schools including Assistant Crisis Intervention Teacher, Instructional Coach, SEL Implementation Lead, and Restorative Practices Coordinator. While in these roles, Allison supported staff through reflective coaching and inter-visitation, and delivering professional development sessions on instructional practices, special education, social emotional learning, restorative practices and culturally responsive education. Allison spearheaded the development of her school's school wellness council and developed and implemented the first health education curriculum to be taught at her school after a six year gap. In addition to teaching, Allison serves as a trustee and volunteer board member with Raising Hands Tutoring.
Allison advocates strongly for the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) approach that emphasizes student, staff and community wellness as a key contributor to academic growth. She is determined to work with the board to ensure our schools continue to develop proactive policies that put students first. Allison encourages you to vote for the Support Our Schools slate on November 2, 2021.
